WRITING AND ADMINISTERING COMMUNITY GRANTS

United Way helps to identify, facilitate, form collaborations, secure and administer grant funding for groups of organizations to take advantage of large-scale opportunities that address community-wide challenges with collective solutions.

LEVERAGING DOLLARS FOR THE COMMUNITY

Past community grants have brought funds to our community to help support our nonprofit partners with capacity building, including:
  • $16 milllion from Office of Temporary & Disability Assistance (OTDA), ESL Charitable Foundation and Finger Lakes Performing Providers System (FLPPS) for Systems Integration Project
  • More than $5 million from the Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative (ESPRI), ESL Charitable Foundation, Farash Foundation and Greater Rochester Health Foundation for the Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative
  • $2 million the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council (FLREDC) for home visitation and summer learning programs.
These funds have enhanced programming and also provided technology assistance, research and best practice information to expand and support operations in the nonprofit sector.

It has also allowed us to partner around training opportunities so that together we can learn about issues that may affect day-to-day service delivery.
