Agency Thrives: Stronger for Our Future Grant provides support to an agency for their organizational health and vitality—organizational hiring and retention, learning and development, non-human efficiency building, and advancement of culture/climate changes.

Powered by United Way’s Community Impact Fund, this grant opportunity is a one-time effort with funding only in 2025.

Community Impact Multi-Year Program Grant

Community Impact Multi-Year Program Grant provides support for impact-driven multi-year community programs that engage one or several impact areas. For the region, impact-driven multi-year programs engage the complexities of their communities to understand the critical issues and participate in creating solutions for transformative change.

Powered by United Way’s Community Impact Fund, approximately $6 million will be allocation of funds for multi-year programs for funding in 2025. Agencies will have the option of selecting multi-year funding for 2-years, 3-years, or 5-years, with an understanding that 5-year program grants can re-apply for only a 2-year grant.

Creating Synergy Grant (Synergy) 

Creating Synergy Grant (Synergy) provides support to nonprofit organizations across the region* with a focus on financial and strategic support during organizational transitions, restructuring, and collaborations to increase operational efficiency and improve program services for their clients, the communities served, and/or our regional community. The goal is to boost operational efficiency and enhance program services, ultimately benefiting clients, the local communities served, and the broader regional community. The support provided is fully confidential and respectful.

The Synergy grant provides support that includes technical assistance and/or financial resources for one-time, out-of-pocket costs incurred toward the exploration and possible implementation of an affiliation or merger. The actual level of support from the Synergy Fund will vary based on need. The Synergy Fund is powered by United Way’s Community Impact Fund, New York Council of Nonprofits, and the ESL Charitable Foundation.

Pre-screening and Applications Will be Open

March 2024, June 2024, and September 2024

Synergy grant inquiries will be available at certain times of the calendar year. Inquiries will occur during the months outlined.

Shifting the Norm: Seeding Great Innovations Grant

Shifting the Norm: Seeding Great Innovations Grant provides support for an innovation program (planning, feasibility effort, or idea) that engages one or several impact areas that have the potential for continual funding via the Community Impact Multi-Year Program Grant for sustainable impact. Overall, this grant is offered for programs that demonstrate interest in addressing the complexities of their communities to understand the critical issues and participate in creating solutions for transformative change.

Powered by United Way’s Community Impact Fund, this grant opportunity is a one-time effort with funding in 2025. Funding is not available annually for this grant opportunity.

We All Grow: Summer Program Grant

We All Grow: Summer Program Grant program provides support for summer programming grants for out of school youth. A common application has been developed to support summer programs for the region. The common application is powered by several funders—Out of School Time Funders Group—to support the region. Funders supporting the common application are United Way’s Community Impact Fund, City of Rochester, ESL Charitable Foundation, Rochester Area Community Foundation’s Greater Rochester Afterschool and Summer Alliance, Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation, William and Sheila Konar Foundation, and many more.

New applications for 2025 summer programs will be announced in late 2024.
