United Way staff show holiday spirit!

United Way staff members spent the months of November and December collecting hats, mittens, socks, pajamas and onesies for our Community Fund-supported Meeting Basic Needs programs and Willow Domestic Violence Center and Salvation Army!

We had an amazing turnout at our Young Leaders’ Club Community Leaders breakfast! Thank you to EVERYONE who attended, the YLC Advisory Council and especially to our fantastic community leaders who volunteered their time to share their experiences with the YLC. United Way staff give back

Kids From United Way Camps Live the Dream at Buffalo Bills Camp

"I'm living a dream, seeing the Bills players and eating all these snacks!" The Community Fund summer programs at YMCA of Greater Rochester and Boys and Girls Club of Rochester had quite the afternoon as they watched the Buffalo Bills practice and got autographs! Check out more photos here.

Finger Lakes Region wins $500 Million
 

The Finger Lakes Region won one of the three $500 million dollar prizes from Governor Cuomo's Upstate Revitalization Initiative. The Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council (FLREDC) annouced that the Rochester-Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative at United Way (RMAPI) is one of the four pillars of the region's proposal. ROC the Day 2015

This year's ROCstars raised $875,765 for local nonprofits. There were 8,372 gifts made on ROC the Day. As always, thanks for your ROC'n support!

We did it!

Thousands come out for Day of Caring and show off their work

Through their eyes

This sweet little girl has been through a lot. At birth, her parents discovered she had a heart defect, Down syndrome and a weakened immune system. With some research, her parents decided to try Community Fund-supported Mary Cariola Children's Center. Since starting there, she has increased her motor skills, verbal language, attention span and social skills. Click here to learn more about how you are supporting our community’s youngest members!

United Way Announces New President

United Way’s Board of Directors named Fran Weisberg President & CEO. A longtime Rochester resident, she is United Way of Greater Rochester’s sixth president and first woman leader in the organization’s history. Following a national search, Fran was selected by a 14-member search committee, chaired by Dave Fiedler, CEO of ESL Federal Credit Union. She will assume her role on May 1, 2015. Read more here.

Rochester ROCs!

Rochester's ROCstars came out on 12.2.14 to choose, give and matter through ROC the Day, our community's 24-hour, online giving event that provides donors an opportunity to support not-for-profit organizations doing great work in the Greater Rochester area. $844,272 was raised by 4,315 ROCstar donors who made 8,014 donations throughout the day. 2 To Lead United Way's Women's Leadership Council

Kristen Clark, Partner at The Bonadio Group, and Melanie Wolk, Partner at Trevett, Cristo, Salzer & Andolina, P.C., have agreed to co-chair United Way's Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) for the 2015 annual campaign. During the 2014 campaign, 1400 members of the Council raised more Kristen Clarkthan $2.15 million. Clark and Wolk will take over for Naomi Silver, President and CEO of the Rochester Red Wings, and Fran Weisberg, Consultant and former Executive Director of the Finger Lakes Health Systems Agency, who co-chaired the Women’s Leadership Council from 2012-14. United Way Allocates $14.8 Million in Strategic Funding

Five years after the launch of the Blueprint for Change, United Way of Greater Rochester’s Community Fund is still helping thousands in need. The organization announced today $14.8 million in funding for nearly 80 local programs aligned with its strategic investment plan. This marks the second year of a three-year funding cycle and signifies $83.3 million invested in local programs since 2010. Read more here.
